Simplified IP rules promised in Queen’s speech

The UK government is to introduce a bill to make it easier for businesses to protect their intellectual property.

The announcement of an IP bill to simplify patent-protection laws was made in the Queen’s Speech on 8 May, which set out the government’s agenda for the coming parliamentary session. The details of the bill are yet to be released.

There was no mention of a higher education bill in the speech, despite the fact that one was intended last year but did not materialise.
