MPs to investigate satellites and space policy

The House of Commons Science and Technology Committee has announced that it will open an inquiry into satellites and space.

In a statement published on 16 December, the committee said the aim of the inquiry is to inform the government’s promised UK civil space strategy in 2016. The announcement comes two days after the publication of the UK’s National Space Policy.

The inquiry will focus on potential measures for the government to build markets for satellites and the services they provide, the impact of the UK regulatory environment on the growth of the space industry, and ideas to encourage further investment in UK space and satellite technology.
