Paul Nurse, director and chief executive of the Francis Crick Institute, has said that the opening of the building will be delayed by up to four months due to problems with the maintenance system.
He made the comments in an evidence session held by the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee on 15 December whose main focus was on his review of the research councils.
Nurse said that the institute’s maintenance system is not working properly yet, and mentioned problems with air conditioning and ventilation, which are necessary to ensure the welfare of the research animals at the institute.
