Greg Clark, the minister for universities, science and cities, has been called to appear before the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee.
At 11am on 10 March, the committee will scrutinise the government’s science and innovation strategy. Questions will be put to Clark on the timing of the strategy (close to an election), how the capital budget of almost £6 billion will be spent, and what effect budget cuts have had on research.
The committee will also seek to establish how Clark divides his time between his three responsibilities, what the government means by “world-class labs” and “scientific grand challenges”, and how the Nurse review of the research councils will differ from the recent triennial review.
