Brexit inquiry receives 190 responses

Staff and student recruitment top the list of concerns raised by universities, according to Neil Carmichael, who chairs the House of Commons Education Committee.

Carmichael said that the large response to the committee’s inquiry into the effects of Brexit on UK higher education highlighted “the degree of concern” universities have about their fate after the UK leaves the European Union.

He noted that the submissions highlighted a variety of issues relating to freedom of movement, including the prospects of recruiting EU students post-Brexit, and the future rights of EU staff to live and work in the UK.
