MPs lock horns with government over ‘vague’ productivity plan

The UK government’s productivity plan is a “vague collection of existing policies” and needs specific measures of performance, MPs have said.

In their response to the productivity plan, Fixing the Foundations: Creating a more prosperous nation, members of the House of Commons Business, Innovation and Skills Committee say that the plan needs more clarity.

The MPs want the government to explain how it will implement and evaluate each policy in the plan. Measures of performance that can be used to hold the government to account are needed, they say in the response published on 1 February.
