Julian Huppert, a former Liberal Democrat MP for Cambridge, has announced that he has applied for reselection as parliamentary candidate for the same constituency in the next general election.
Huppert, a biological chemist, made the announcement in a Twitter message on 6 July.
Speaking to Research Fortnight, Huppert said that the outcome of the EU referendum and the turmoil in the two main national parties had been the main reasons behind his decision.
