MPs have launched an inquiry into research using somatic and embryonic stem cells and its funding.
The House of Commons Science and Technology Committee has announced that it will examine the ethical issues and investment challenges around research into regenerative medicine at a session to be held on 19 July. The inquiry follows a report on the subject by the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee in 2013.
Regenerative medicine, which includes the regeneration or replacement of diseased organs, tissues or cells, can be controversial.
