The UK should stay “as close as possible” to the European Atomic Energy Community, even if that means accepting the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice, a committee of MPs has said.
The UK government intends to withdraw from the organisation and negotiate an agreement that maintains Britain’s involvement somehow. It has also promised to replicate Euratom’s nuclear regulatory work by Brexit date, in March 2019.
However, the House of Commons Committee on Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy said on 13 December that it was “highly doubtful” that the government would be able to meet that deadline.
