Cable to lead LibDem fightback as Osborne quits

Former business secretary Vince Cable is among a trio of Liberal Democrat ‘big beasts’ preparing to stand for parliament in the snap election on 8 June.

Cable will contest the south-west London seat of Twickenham, which he lost to the Conservatives in 2015.

Former chancellor George Osborne is to quit as MP for Tatton in the north of England. The news was reported by the London Evening Standard, which Osborne will join as editor from next month.
