Don’t trust election manifestos, higher education think tank warns

HEPI analysts advise voters not to assume pledges from leading political parties will come to fruition

Voters in the upcoming UK general election should not trust what the manifestos of any of the country’s three largest political parties say on education, a leading independent think tank has warned.

In a blog post on 11 November, the Higher Education Policy Institute drew up a comparison table of previous pledges made by the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat parties.
