Chief Scientific Adviser urges greater accountability and clearer targets required for science spending

UK science leadership is “weak and fragmented” across certain government departments, with science in many also suffering from chronic underfunding, the government’s own Office for Science has warned.

Addressing Cabinet leaders in a review of government science capability, chief scientific adviser, Patrick Vallance, made a series of recommendations for an improved use of science within government agenda and policymaking.
