Suspension of parliament puts kibosh on attempts to regulate cheating in higher education

Prime minister Boris Johnson’s second attempt to suspend parliament looks to have derailed legislation on essay mills, reforming forensic science, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and encouraging novel technologies.

When parliament is prorogued, all existing legislation making its way through the Houses of Commons and Lords is dropped, apart from bills that the government specifically chooses to carry over to the next session.
