Science minister promises new laws to govern foreign firms buying ‘sensitive’ intellectual property

Science minister Amanda Solloway says the government will strengthen its ability to block foreign companies buying up ‘sensitive’ UK intellectual property.

Questioned in the House of Commons about Chinese investment in the UK—including the suggestion that China has ‘stolen’ universities’ IP—Solloway said new laws would supplement existing powers to intervene in buyouts that might compromise national security.
