Vallance ‘unaware’ of apparent gagging order on CSA meetings

Chief scientist surprised that government is failing to disclose ministers’ interactions with chief scientific advisers

Patrick Vallance has said he is “unaware” of an alleged gagging order on disclosing the frequency with which chief scientific advisers meet with ministers.

The government’s chief scientific adviser (pictured with the prime minister) was speaking on 30 March during a House of Commons Science and Technology Committee session on UK science, research and technology capability and influence in global disease outbreaks.
