MPs urge ministers to act on next-generation nuclear R&D

              

Parliamentarians call for long-term nuclear plan, including maintaining support for fusion and closing skills gap

MPs have urged the government to make decisions on which next-generation nuclear technologies to fund, as part of a wider call for a long-term strategic plan for nuclear power.

In April 2022, the government announced it was aiming to triple the UK’s current nuclear capacity by 2050 as part of its long-term energy security plan.
