Society calls for greater use of energy resources in Scotland

Members of the Scottish Parliament have been warned that Scotland needs to develop its energy skills and research base.

In a briefing paper on energy produced by the Royal Society of Edinburgh, MSPs were told that Scotland must exploit its research base by developing energy technologies and work more closely with the major energy companies that operate in the country.

Major investments in R&D will also be needed to meet the government’s targets for renewable heat generation, the paper says.
