The Scottish Funding Council scheme to help small and medium-sized businesses to engage with academics is to be expanded.

The Innovation Voucher Scheme provides business with up to £5,000 to work with academics to develop their businesses. It has been running since 2009, in which time 800 business have participated.

The scheme was previously open only to businesses seeking engagement with universities, but will now be piloted in Scotland’s regional colleges to encourage engagement with the construction industry. This remit will be broadened if the scheme is successful.
