Proposals to create a single statutory board to govern Scotland’s five higher education, enterprise and innovation agencies have been criticised by politicians and university groups.
The creation of the Scottish ‘super-board’ was first mooted in the phase 1 report of the Scottish government’s enterprise and skills review, published on 25 October.
Initially, it was understood that the Scottish government would establish a new body to oversee and coordinate the activities of Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Skills Development Scotland, Scottish Development International and the Scottish Funding Council.
