Cardiff University has won the contract to run a public policy institute to provide independent policy advice for the Welsh government, First Minister Carwyn Jones has announced.
The institute, to be launched in the autumn, will include a network of experts drawn from universities, think tanks and other research organisations across Wales.
Initially the university has been awarded a three-year contract, subject to review, and an annual budget of £450,000. The institute will be run by Steve Martin, director of the Centre for Local and Regional Government Research at Cardiff University, until a permanent director is found.
