Universities in Wales create almost £3.6 billion for the country’s economy and generate some 3 per cent of its GDP, a report has found.
The report, commissioned by Higher Education Wales and conducted by Viewforth Consulting, also reveals that Wales has earned £400 million through overseas export revenue and international students coming to study in Wales.
Commenting on the report, John Hughes, chairman of Higher Education Wales said in a statement that the report demonstrates that for every £1m of Welsh higher education institutional revenue, a further £1.03m is generated to the Welsh economy.
