Welsh government backing for manufacturing institute

Welsh economy secretary Ken Skates has announced a £20-million investment to set up an Advanced Manufacturing and Research Institute in North Wales.

In a statement on 21 November, the Welsh government said that the institute would have a strong focus on aerospace, automotive, nuclear and food research.

The institute will receive a further £10m from other partners in the project. It will undertake collaborative R&D, target advanced manufacturing techniques and production processes, and assess training needs and skills across industry, the statement said.
