Wales looks overseas to attract post-Brexit investment

The Welsh government is to open offices in Canada, France, Germany and Qatar in an effort to court foreign investment and bolster its trade links after Britain leaves the European Union.

The offices will add to the Welsh government’s existing network of overseas offices promoting Wales as an attractive destination for investment in the United States, China, India, the Republic of Ireland, Dubai and Japan. Others may open in other strategic locations where Wales has strong trade links, the Welsh government said in a press release on 27 November.

Over the past three years, Wales has attracted several major inward investments by companies such as GE Aviation, the United-States-based aircraft engine supplier, and General Dynamics, an American aerospace and defence corporation, the government said.
