Defra invests £7m to save trees from disease

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs is to invest £7 million to research on combating exotic diseases in trees.

Speaking at the launch of an action plan to combat exotic pests and diseases threatening the health of trees in the UK, environment secretary Caroline Spelman warned that “millions of trees could be lost to disease in the UK in the next few years” if nothing was done.
