£800m funding boost for health research

NHS hospitals and universities will receive an £800 million government funding boost over five years for translational health research.

Health Secretary Andrew Lansley confirmed on 18 August that the Department of Health will make the investments following a commitment in the Comprehensive Spending Review to channel £4 billion into health research.
