Water quality research project goes on line

A government-funded river-monitoring system to improve water quality in the River Eden and its tributaries goes online on28 September.

The system was developed by researchers from the universities of Lancaster, Newcastle and Durham, the Centre for Hydrology and Ecology, Askham Bryan College (Newton Rigg) and the Eden Rivers Trust. They installed 10 river monitoring stations to collect data on river water quality for farmers, councils, rivers trusts and the public.
