Border Agency again criticised over student monitoring

The UK Border Agency has been criticised by John Vine, the independent chief inspector of immigration, for falling behind on following up more than 100,000 reports from colleges and universities about potential failures to comply with visa rules among international students.

An inspection carried out earlier this year revealed that at one point the UKBA had a backlog of 153,000 reports from colleges and universities saying that non-EU students had not enrolled, stopped attending courses or breached visa rules.
