Copyright reform aims to free materials for research and education

UK law is to be reformed to allow researchers and lecturers to use copyright-protected materials and data for research and educational purposes.

The plans are intended to make “the intellectual property framework fit for the 21st century”, said business secretary Vince Cable in a statement on 20 December.
