Carbon capture plans set for rejuvenation

Government plans to build a commercial-scale carbon capture and storage plant in the UK are set to resurface, followed the abandonment of a four-year-long competition last year.

A letter to the House of Commons Energy and Climate Change Committee from the then energy secretary, Chris Huhne, published this week, said that there was a “clear cross-government commitment to carbon capture and storage” with cost-competitive CCS deployment by the 2020s.
