Ebdon gets Offa job despite Tory opposition

Business Secretary Vince Cable has confirmed that his preferred candidate, Les Ebdon, chairman of the university group Million+, will become the director of the Office for Fair Access.

The 20 February announcement was made despite a statement by the Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee—with a majority of Tory MPs at the time of voting—that the committee was unable to endorse the appointment.
