Marine ecologist appointed chief scientific adviser at DEFRA

Ian Boyd, director of the Scottish Oceans Institute at the University of St Andrews, has been appointed chief scientific adviser at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Boyd will take up the three-year appointment in September, replacing Bob Watson.
