Closer collaboration between the patent authorities in the US and UK has resulted in improved quality in patent processing, says a joint report from the two national bodies.
The report for the US Patent and Trademark Office and the UK Intellectual Property Office examines progress on an agreement signed by the two organisations in 2010. This agreement sought to investigate ways of reducing patent processing backlogs in both countries. Progress was possible by enabling patent examiners from each office to make greater use of each other’s work on commonly-filed patent applications.
