£56m for low carbon vehicles

The Technology Strategy Board and the Office for Low Emission Vehicles have teamed up with industry to secure a £56 million investment to cut carbon emissions from road transport and boost the commercialisation of low-carbon vehicles.

The funding, of which about £27m is public and £29m is from contributing businesses, will go to 17 research, development and validation projects. Some of these will involve small and medium-sized companies in the development work while many of the projects will be led by big firms such as Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover and Nissan.
