Councils vie for future city funding

Councils across the country are to carry out feasibility studies in the hope of winning £24 million to become a ‘future city’.

Each of the 30 councils has been given £50,000 for the studies in order to show how they would spend the prize to improve transport, communications and other infrastructure. One will be selected as the ‘future city’ in January.
