DfID goes open access

The Department for International Development will require all the research it funds to be available for free from November this year.

The department announced that it will require the researchers it supports to deposit their work in its open access repository, R4D, or make their findings freely available in academic journals by paying for their publication up front, in which case DfID will provide the necessary funding.
