Former soccer boss appointed to Met office

Greg Clarke, former chairman of the Football League, has been appointed chairman of the Met Office.

Clarke, who has also been the chief executive of the Cable and Wireless Communication PLC, will replace Robert Napier. He will take up the post on 1 September.

“I’m very much looking forward to working with Greg whose interest in science, and proven leadership in fast moving, technology driven environments will be a great asset to his role of Chair with the Met Office,” said the Met office’s chief executive John Hirst in a statement.
