Loans for Scottish students increased

Scottish university students will receive loans of £4,500 per year, regardless of their circumstances, it was announced on 23 August.

In addition, those with family incomes of less than £17,000 will receive a minimum of £7,250 through bursaries and loans, an £800 increase. Education secretary Michael Russell said he expects the changes will benefit about 45,000 students each year.
