Badger cull ceases in west Gloucestershire

Natural England has announced that an agreement with a cull company in west Gloucestershire has been reached that will bring an abrupt end to badger culling operations.

In a statement on 29 November, Natural England said the decision had been taken because of the “decreasing number of badgers seen by contractors in recent weeks”, which makes a further significant reduction in the coming weeks unlikely.

The cage-trapping operations are to cease at noon on 30 November, cutting short the eight-week extension of the cull that was granted by Natural England on 23 October.
