Walport heads for Delhi to announce more joint projects

Mark Walport, the UK’s chief scientific adviser, has announced a string of projects aimed at boosting research collaboration between the UK and India.

The projects include a global funding scheme for researchers in the UK, India, and other developing countries in the areas of health, food security and gender equality.

The UK government has also announced £5 million for the next tranche of the India-UK Collaborative Industrial R&D Programme to fund collaborative R&D projects between companies in the UK and India. This programme is funded jointly by the UK’s Technology Strategy Board and India’s Department of Science Technology. Other initiatives include a staff exchange scheme between the Medical Research Council and India’s Department of Biotechnology.
