Nuclear plant will bring 1,000 skilled jobs, says union

The nuclear power plant to be built at Wylfa in north Wales will employ around 1,000 highly skilled workers when construction is complete, according to the workers' union Prospect.

Up to 6,000 jobs are expected to be created on site in Anglesey during construction of the new reactor.

The plant will cost £8 billion, which will be underwritten by the UK government. The deal was confirmed in the government’s 20-year national infrastructure spending plan published on 4 December.
