The Health Research Authority plans to make registering clinical trials and publishing results conditions of approval by its research ethics committees.
These were among a number of proposals to promote transparency in clinical and other health-related research, which were published by the authority on 13 May.
Registration of clinical trials within an agreed timeframe will be a condition of REC approval from September 2013, the HRA paper says.
