The National Institute for Health Research has underspent on its R&D budget for the last three years, figures released to the House of Commons show.
The numbers were given in response to a question from Tessa Munt, Liberal Democrat MP for Wells, in Somerset, and parliamentary private secretary to business secretary Vince Cable, on 19 March.
They show that in 2012-13, the NIHR’s revenue allocations for R&D were £1 billion, while revenue expenditure in that year was £985 million.
