Science minister Jo Johnson has said that the government will consider the recommendations of the Dowling review alongside the spending review, higher education green paper and Nurse review.
However, the government will not be issuing a separate response to the report, which was published on 2 July. In it, Ann Dowling called for the government to simplify an innovation system that is too complex.
A government response to the review of university-business collaboration had been expected in the autumn. In November, the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee said in its report on the science budget that it was “disappointed that the government has yet to respond to the Dowling report, given its important insights into gaps in our innovation landscape”.
