Samples from patients taking part in the project to map 100,000 genomes will be stored in the National Biosample Centre in Milton Keynes, Genomics England has announced.
The organisation, which is leading the government-funded project to collect the genomes and offer them for use in research, says the centre is the largest biosample facility in the UK. It is owned and run by the National Institute for Health Research.
The centre will store and process biological samples such as blood, tumour tissue and saliva, keeping them at temperatures as low as -80°C.
