The government is to create a Robotics and Autonomous Systems Leadership Council to provide independent advisory oversight of planning and execution of strategy in robotics.
Greg Clark, minister for universities, science and cities, announced the formation of the council in an open letter replying to RAS 2020, a national strategy document put forward by the Robotics and Autonomous Systems Special Interest Group in July 2014.
The council will act as a mediator with senior leaders across industry, academia and government to bolster the UK’s position in the growing area.
