Lack of digital skills could hamper UK innovation, BIS told

Economic growth, innovation and societal development in the UK are being put at risk by a shortage of suitable digital skills, a government-commissioned report has said.

Digital Skills for the UK Economy, published on 15 January, was commissioned by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

The report says that 72 per cent of large companies and 49 per cent of small and medium-sized businesses are suffering from technical skill shortages, and makes recommendations to improve the situation.
