MoD offers £40m for research on soldier support

The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory at the Ministry of Defence has opened a £40-million tender for industrial R&D on technologies to support dismounted soldiers.

In a statement released on 12 January, the DSTL said that the contract, called the Dismounted Soldier System Engine Room, would last for four years and support the development of projects such as next-generation weaponry. The laboratory added that it expects successful bidders to cooperate with government and academia.

An industry day for potential applicants will take place on 22 March at the Imperial War Museum.
