Nuclear decommissioning strategy meets with approval

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority has concluded that the “overall direction of travel” of its next five-year strategy is correct, after collating responses to a consultation last year.

The draft strategy, first published for consultation in September 2015, included a pledge to address the skills gap in the nuclear industry by emphasising well-defined career paths in the industry as well as the interesting challenges it presented.

The results of that exercise, which received 24 broadly positive responses, were published on 4 January, alongside a redraft, which will now be subject to consultation. The authority said that it had clarified some elements of its strategy but had made no significant changes to strategic direction. The latest draft is open for consultation until 15 February.
