The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has announced the appointment of the Energy Innovation Board to replace its Low Carbon Innovation Coordination Group.
On 11 November, BEIS announced that Mark Walport, the government’s chief scientific adviser, would lead the group. It will include representatives from BEIS, Innovate UK, the research councils, the energy market regulator Ofgem and the government departments responsible for communities and local government, environment, food and rural affairs, international development and transport. Civil servants from the Treasury will act as observers.
BEIS said that the devolved administrations would be invited to the board’s meetings on a regular basis, and other organisations may be invited to attend for specific topics.
