The government will reveal a list of technological areas to be supported through the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund by the time of the 2017 budget, science minister Jo Johnson has said.
The fund, announced in the autumn statement last month, will be administered by UK Research and Innovation via Innovate UK.
In a series of responses to written parliamentary questions published on 6 December, Johnson said that the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy will begin to select these areas following an evidence-based process, and should have made some choices by the date of the budget in spring 2017.
